Tonight at Fleisher Ollman gallery - Love Explosion

LOVE EXPLOSION
April 18th - May 17th 2008
Opening Reception Friday April 18th, 6-8pm
1616 Walnut Street, Suite 100
Philadelphia

Love Explosion is Alex Da Corte's first full-scale show in Philadelphia following recent solo exhibitions at Parisian Laundry in Montreal and the Stonefox Artspace in New York. He graduated from the University of the Arts in 2005. Jack Sloss first showed at Fleisher/Ollman in 2005's Meatball invitational and From Time To Time in 2006, following his relocation to Philadelphia from Chicago in 2005, where he had shown at the Chicago Cultural Center and Donald Young Gallery among many others.

The work in this show scampers from one emotional note to the next, from sexy to serene, abstruse, dark. A complete spectrum. Love and positivity imbues the work at every level. The gallery is blinking with energy flashes both figurative and literal, for there are many light works on display. There are photographs, too, and film, video, sculptures in bronze, plaster, plastic and found objects, and paintings. Tomorrow there will also be sculptures in cake.
