Philagrafika 2010 Catalog

Philagrafika 2010 is Philadelphia's international festival celebrating print in contemporary art. The first festival, which took place last year, included over 300 artists at 80 different venues across the city.

The catalog features dozens of artists, hundreds of images of of artwork, multiple locations, interviews with participants, funders logos, a very long list and acknowledgments and thanks, an index, essays by curators of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Moore College, Temple University, the Print Center and Philagrafika. Philadelphia has a huge art scene that encompasses just about every type of discipline and institution you can think of, so it's rare and exciting to see a collaboration among so many different institutions and people.

The book is printed on 80lb starbright velvet paper. This paper is crisp! Images retain sharpness and clarity and the matte laminate makes for easy reading. The cover is printed on 100lb Cougar and we de-bossed the book title logo on top of the photo of Enrique Chagoya's Ante La Imagen. This treatment is a subtle nod to the larger Graphic Unconscious concept that is prevalent throughout the catalog and the festival. We didn't think we need to be heavy handed with the title and felt that the de-bossing lent just the right amount of mystery to the cover.
